Unless you have been living on the Moon recently there is no chance you could have missed the build up to the Royal Wedding which takes place on Friday 29th April between Prince William and Kate Middleton. And for those that have been watching the seemingly endless news reports from around Westminster Abbey may have seen those pesky bookies getting in on the action. Today alone we have clocked a Paddy Power odds board and a Ladbrokes odds board making an appearance on live TV reports in the background, so it seems there is some interest on the betting side of the Wedding, so we have jumped on the bandwagon as well and bring you all the best Royal Wedding Betting news here.
You may be surprised to find out that there are actually lots of different betting markets surrounding the Royal Wedding so we are going to have a look at the best and popular bets.
The main bet of interest at the moment doesn’t even relate to the happy couple, but the Queen, and the colour of the Queens hat to be more precise. The favourite colour of the hat at the moment is yellow with Paddy Power offering 5/4. The next colour in the betting is blue with William Hill offering the best bookies odds of 4/1. All the bookmakers are agreeing with the odds of 8/1 of the hat being beige/cream although Sky Bet are offering 8/1 on a pink hat whilst other bookmakers are offering a lot shorter odds. One bet we would definitly avoid though is the 40/1 being offered by Sky Bet on the hat being black.
A bet that has also caught our eye is exclusive to Paddy Power and we think is very good betting value. This bet is all about a popularity burst in the name Kate, and Paddy Power bookies are offering 4/1 that Kate will now become the most popular girls name of 2011.
Another eyecatcher in the betting is for a Welsh or Irish Guard to faint live on Sky News. Sky Bet have this exclusive betting market and although the weather might not be too hot the pressure of the day could prove to much for some and the odds of 10/1 might be a good shout.
Another bet that although on first glance doesn’t look that appealling could offer a bit of value. This is for the bouquet to be caught or not. Betfred and Victor Chandler are offering the best bookies odds of it being caught at a very short 1/6 but William Hill offer a more attractive 4/1 on the bouquet getting dropped, and they’ll surely be a scramble for it.
Victor Chandler are the only bookies offering this market but there seems to be a bit of betting value here. This bet market is for a couple to be seen kissing on the Wedding Day by BBC cameras. The obvious favourites are the not very shy Beckham’s with David and Victoria leading the betting at 6/4. But the bet we like in this market is Prime Minister David Cameron and wife Samantha. They have odds of 7/1 and as they are hosting a street party as well at Downing Street they are sure to get a lot of coverage.
As we mentioned earlier there are lots of betting markets ranging from the colour of David Beckham’s tie to the Airline they fly with on the Honeymoon. Most bets are all looking at the positive but if you are feeling miserable about it Bodog are offering 500/1 that Kate Middleton jilts Prince William or you could take the long term bet with William Hill that they aren’t married on the date of their 10th anniversary with odds
