Offer pleases in Newbury spin
Roger Charlton took his Qipco 2000 Guineas hope Top Offer to Newbury this week for a racecourse gallop ahead of his seasonal reappearance.
The Khalid Abdullah-owned colt, an impressive winner of his only start at the Berkshire track last season, is the general third favourite for the first Classic of the season, despite his inexperience, though Charlton has repeatedly stated that the son of Dansili would need a race before tackling the Guineas.
“Top Offer went to Newbury and had a nice easy gallop with two lead horses down the back straight in the wrong direction and it was good to get him away from home having not run since August,” said Charlton on his website, www.rogercharlton.com.
“We still have two weeks before the Greenham and he is progressing, but it will be important for him to have a race before the 2000 Guineas as he is light on experience and he still has to prove that he is up to that standard.”
